Hearts of Patriots Remembers Our Veteran Spouses/Caregivers During The Holiday Season

The Holidays Can Be a Stressful Time For Spouses and Families of Veterans Suffering From Invisible wounds of War

Few individuals experience PTSD in isolation. The holidays can be particularly stressful for these families and it's important that the spouses of those who served are also not forgotten.”

ELYRIA, OHIO, US, September 24, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Hearts of Patriots (HP), a nonprofit dedicated to standing by our hidden heroes who sacrifice daily in support of their wounded Veteran ensures that these amazing individuals are not overlooked during this holiday season.

"Few individuals experience PTSD in isolation." said Hearts of Patriots Executive Director Denise Weller. "The holidays can be particularly stressful for these families and it's important that the spouses of those who served are also not forgotten."

Hearts of Patriots' Adopt a Vet Spouse/Caregiver for the Holidays program matches individual, business and organization sponsors with caregivers of Veterans suffering from PTSD and/or TBI. HP pairs the vetted caregiver directly with the sponsor who agrees to purchase a gift for the caregiver based on a holiday wish list send and provide gift card to help with the holiday meal.

Read from two Veteran Caregiver’s emails upon learning they were chosen last season for the Adopt a Vet Spouse for the Holidays program.

A Veteran Spouse from Florida wrote, “Thank you so much! For the first time in a long time I am excited about Christmas. I don’t think I could thank you enough!”

A Ohio Caregiver emailed the following after learning she was paired with a sponsor, “If you only knew the day I had today, and to come home from work tonight and open this email, I am literally brought to tears. It does my heart so well to know that there are still selfless people in this world who genuinely care about others. This is such an incredible program, and I hope next year I can be on the giving end rather than receiving.”

While other families are out looking for that perfect gift for their wife or husband, our PTSD Veterans frequently feel overwhelmed and trapped, remaining in the safety of their homes. Unfortunately, on Christmas morning or during Hanukkah, it is the Caregiver who often doesn't receive a gift."

Please thank these caregivers for their service and sacrifice by becoming a Holiday sponsor for one of our Hidden Heroes. Sponsorship applications are available on line now. For more information on how to become a sponsor please visit https://www.vetspouse.org/adopt-military-caregiver.html or email denise@vetspouse.org.

Hearts of Patriots is committed to ensuring that spouses of Veterans who suffer from invisible wounds (PTSD and TBI-Traumatic Brain injury) are not alone throughout their difficult journey as caregivers and provides education, resources and support that focuses on the spouse and their families.
